pong

A good friend of mine informed me that I might have a chance at winning Engadget's Worst Gaming Setup Contest. I feel like I should go on about how terrible it is, but I'm sorry, I can't... I guess I enjoy old crap. And yes, this is truly my gaming system. I've been known to arrive at gaming nights with this stuff and some are not so impressed, yet others kick back and enjoy its' beauty. However, if the fine folks at Engadget feel it is the crappiest, more power to them, cause I wouldn't turn down a custom PS3 Slim from Rockstar Games.
So here is the low down on my gaming set up. The game is pong, and if you want to play different flavors of pong, you need different systems. So I have a few, each providing their own variety of the game.

In Mafia Wars there are many different achievements players can earn. Some are easier than others. On of the achievements that seems more daunting and undesirable is the "Cashing Out" achievement which is earned by selling 50 mega casinos.
After working so hard to buy 50 mega casinos, why would I ever want to sell them for a fraction of the cost. Is this really worth the achievement. This is a valid question, but a good friend of my gave me a excellent tip.

In Mafia Wars you can spend your stamina by fighting or robbing, but which one is the better way to go? I've pondered this often when I should be thinking about more productive things. I will outline some of my ideas on the subject, then if you have some ideas, chime in and let me know what you think.

While playing Mafia Wars, I play on Facebook, one of the main strategies is to figure out how to most efficiently use the resources you are given. As I was buying up properties in New York and building casinos and Valu-Marts, I never really knew if I was building my portfolio to its' maximum potential. I asked myself, "What would give me the best return for my dollar?" The more money I can make, the better buying power I will have, right?
I had already learned the "hot" tip to only buy properties and businesses in groups of 10. This gets you the best value, since each time you buy the price increases. But I still didn't know in what order I should build my empire.
So I created a "return" calculator to help. It calculates the return on your dollar over X amount of time. If you want money fast and quick, you might want to see what would give you the best return for your dollar in one day, but if you are going on a long vacation and won't be checking on your properties for two weeks, you might want to see what will give you the best return over two weeks.
As your empire grows, the return over the short term goes negative. This is due to the increase costs to add more businesses. When this happens, it is best to then increase the time for return and see what gives the best return at the next time frame.
Give the calculator a try
here, and let me know what you think.
